2019 Summer Fitness Program

The South Boston Leadership Initiative will be hosting a Summer Fitness Program to be held at Farragut Park (and the surrounding causeways and beach areas) throughout the Summer of 2019, and will meet every morning, Monday thru Thursday, outside of the Murphy Rink. The program is FREE and open to anyone between the ages of 12–18, and in collaboration with Save the Harbor/Save the Bay.

Program Highlights

  • 7 weeks (July 8th – August 22nd)
  • Monday through Thursday
  • Group 1: Ages 15–18 (7:30am – 8:30am)
  • Group 2: Ages 12–14 (8:30am – 10:00am)
  • Location: Farragut Park & surrounding causeways and beach areas
  • Completely FREE for all participants
  • In collaboration with Save the Harbor/Save the Bay
Meeting Point: Outside the Murphy Rink at Farragut Park, South Boston. No equipment or prior fitness experience required.

This specialized program, led by an experienced staff, will look to use fitness and nutrition as a means of instilling healthy lifestyles to the youth in South Boston. While focusing on everything from flexibility to nutrition to sport-specific weight training, each participant will improve not just physically but mentally as well as we head into the Summer months.

About the Program

South Boston Leadership Initiative's Summer Fitness Program is designed to provide the youth of South Boston with a structured, supportive, and motivating fitness environment throughout the summer months. Our experienced team of fitness instructors works with each participant to ensure they are challenged appropriately and receive individualized attention when needed.

The program integrates fitness training with nutrition education, helping participants understand the connection between physical activity and healthy eating. Over seven weeks, participants progressively build their fitness levels, setting personal goals and achieving milestones that build confidence and commitment to an active lifestyle.
